To answer the first question, what is wisdom, I’ll
begin with what a text book definition consists of. Wisdom according to its definition is the
soundness of an action or decision with regard to the application of such
experience, knowledge, and good judgment.
To begin here, we see that experience is a key word in which wisdom is
based upon. In order to hold wisdom you
must also own experience, through a multitude of ways. To describe the qualities in just a few
words, I believe morality, compassion, self-understanding and lastly a person
with emotional stability, these qualities are the main ones I think attribute
most to wisdom as a whole. Each of these
are highly appraised qualities which I believe are admirable to withhold by
themselves, but when you possess all them, along with experience which I find
can only be found through time, makes up what wisdom really is. Is wisdom something that can be boiled down
into things like getting all A’s on your report card, or as stated before,
getting a P.h. D. from a prestigious college?
To answer that, we must really dive deep down and think. I believe these things although very
impressive and hard to achieve do not prove what wisdom really is or consists
of. Now, getting to the part that gets a
little tricky, achieving these things does not make you wise, but the
experiences you went through to obtain these things may make you wise. So it is truly a hard thing to say yes or no
to, no they do not make you wise, but the process in which a person achieved
them may make you wise or full of wisdom.
No I do not believe a person without the qualifications of wisdom can
obtain wisdom, but they can gain the qualifications needed to be wise, and then
and only be able to possess wisdom through experience. Wisdom I believe is a quality which can only
be found in humans, because, as I said before, wisdom can only be found in
those with compassion, morality, and high levels of thinking based upon past
experience, which can only be fund in humans.
I find that my pop pop was a very wise man, who I believe was wise due
to the fact that he had experienced a lot during his life, and that he used his
past to relate to things in the present which I believe is what made him a very
wise person.

Jobs
The question, are some jobs more important than other jobs, I believe is
both opinion and factual. Jobs are the
things we do, to accomplish a goal or task, and in return are paid for our
services. Due to the fact that the world
is massive and extremely diverse there are mind boggling amounts of jobs,
needing to be fulfilled to make society itself run smoothly. To say one job is more important than another
I believe is a very ignorant statement. I
believe it is very easy to just say one job is more important than another, if
one does not take the time to really think about how the world of jobs works
and how intertwined the entire system really is. To start, I will use the example stated
previously, is a doctor’s job more important than a teacher’s job? At first
instinct a person would usually reply yes, due to the fact that doctors save people’s
lives and teacher’s, who’s usual connotation is that of a kindergarten teacher,
which is ignorant in itself, is no one where near the same level of
importance. But instead, let’s dive into
some thought, with the question, who taught the doctor? The answer is a teacher of course! Somebody had to teach the doctor to do his oh
so important job of saving lives, no disrespect to doctor’s because I do
believe saving lives is an admiral career choice, but teacher’s in this
seemingly simple yet complex equation, get the short end of the stick. I believe jobs and their importance is
equally, and this concept is hard to grasp for most people. A garbage man for example, his job in
relation to say an astrophysicist is to most people un-relatable. The astrophysicist clearly makes an
astronomical amount of money compared to the Garbage man, pun intended. And in the end the scale tips towards the astrophysicist
in most people’s lives. Now let’s break
it down, and show why this just is not so.
Say every Garbage man stopped working, they just decided to stop doing
their jobs, due to the fact that people believe they are not as important as
other jobs; they do this to prove a point.
In about three months or so the streets are littered with trash, the smell
in almost every town is putrid, to the point that people can hardly think, and
now the all mighty astrophysicist can no longer due his job. Is this an extreme example? Of course it is,
but it shows that all jobs are equally important, and we in most cases judge
before we think. It is an entire system
intertwined with each other to the point that if one is removed others are affected. I believe we judge a jobs importance by
salary wage, and educationally grounds needed to obtain the job. But in the end no job is more important than
the next.

Love
What is love? Can it really be summed up in a single
definition, or phrase? Is it set in stone or forever changing from person to
person? I believe there is not set
definition, there is no certain way to define what love is or does to a person,
because I believe love is different for each and every single person. There is no universal equation or formula
that fits what love means and really is in everyone’s life, yes there are similarities,
but there are no set in stone rules or regulations. I believe love can come in many variations,
but is broken down into two different categories, love in an intimate way, such
as a relationship and love in a friend or family way, kind of like the love you
have for your mother or father or their love for you and their children. So to begin I will focus on the intimate love
first, I believe this kind of love is defined by what people do for you, and
how they make you feel when they are around you, or you are around them. The feeling of security even when your world
is crashing down, their ability to make you laugh at the darkest times, and the
feeling of comfort when around them. Feeling
vulnerable and knowing it is okay. Love is
caring, feeling needed. Love is what
happens when you are not with that special person, how you feel without them
and how you hope and deep down know they feel without you too. When you spend an entire day with them and
soon as they leave you miss them like you have not seen them in forever. The other kind of love is between friends and
family usually. It is the love that is
like a close bond, you would do anything for them, to keep them safe and to
make them happy. There is no intimacy
but you care for them and about them. You
do not want any harm to come to them and would be lost without them by your
side and in your life. These are the
two main kinds of love, and most people experience both of them, usually at the
same time. There are so set ways to
define it, it is simply how you feel and what you enjoy. Love is shown in the simplest
ways, I simple gesture can show the same amount of love as a diamond ring, it
depends on the person. There are no
qualifications, everyone deserves to be loved, it is our god given right that
we each deserve to be loved. Love is a necessity;
it is something we cannot live without. Unfortunately,
love is sometimes hard to find, although we all deserve it, it can takes years
to find the right person. I do not
believe there is ever too much love, it is not something you can get sick of. It
makes you, you, and makes you feel comfortable from the inside out.

Risks
Life is about taking chances and taking risks. It is about going for something even if it
means leaving your little bubble or going out of your comfort zone. Sometimes the results are not always what you
wanted but without taking the risk you will never obtain what you truly desire. Like what was stated before, taking risks is
in most cases is dangerous either physically or mentally and taking a risk
means that there is always the possibility that harm can be the outcome. I have taken my fair share of risks, as I am
sure almost everyone has, and of course I have personally experienced both the
benefits and the consequences of taking a risk.
For instance I remember just last summer, I was lounging around outside
and I was struck with the brilliant idea that I should maybe jump off my room
into my above ground pool, and it would not just be the close roof that I have
already jumped off of, it would be the second story roof, where I would have to
run and leap over my deck, rocks, and finally land in the pool or at least this
was the plan. I went to my upstairs bed
room where I pushed all my things away from my window. I then continued to pop open my screen and
place it inside my room, climb out the window and make my way to the side of
the house. I then hoisted myself up to
the second story roof which was no easy feat considering it was a few feet
high, and it left me with some scraps on my arms due to the ruff shingling I just
pushed against while wearing nothing but shorts and a short sleeve
t-shirt. I finally reached my second
story roof where I then walked to the corner of the roof, and looked over, this
is where I planned to make my fantastic leap from, and gracefully land in my
pool unharmed. After looking what I had
to do to make the jump successful not really thinking about what would happen
if I wasn’t successful, which now in retrospect could have ended in some pretty
bad ways. I got myself to the top of the
roof and prepared myself to run and jump, there was no going back now as I started
to run, I was going too fast to slow down so either I was going to jump and
possibly make it or I was going to fall off the roof and definitely not make it
and get injured severely. I went with
option one where I jumped as far as hard as I could, swinging my arms praying I’d
make it. I landed in the pool I would
say about a foot away from the side of the pool. I was glad I made it and my adrenaline was
pulsing through my veins it was an amazing feeling, and afterwards realizing that
if I had hit the pool’s side that I could have either been paralyzed or
possibly have died. It was a risk I would
surely never try again.
